Zhang Hua at 28th Harvard China Forum: Pioneering Tech & Industrial Resilience

2025-04-09

April 5, 2025, Boston, USA

On April 5, 2025, Ms. Zhang Hua—Founder and Chairman of Seebon Group (ranked among China’s Top 500 Service Enterprises), CEO of Mañana United Digital Technology, and Industrial Advisor to Guangzhou Nansha District—attended the 28th Harvard College China Forum as a distinguished guest and panelist. At the event, Zhang Hua delivered a thought-provoking speech intertwining the ethos of marathon running with traditional industrial transformation and medical AI innovation, inspiring global young leaders with her insights on perseverance and breakthroughs. In her capacity as Nansha’s Industrial Advisor, she also highlighted the district’s strategic role as a pivotal hub in China’s national development blueprint and the geographic core of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to advancing national strategic goals with an aspiration to “Chart the Southern Course.”

Marathon Spirit: A Metaphor for Resilience

During the panel discussion, Zhang Hua, a seasoned marathoner and one of the first 50 Chinese runners to complete the World Marathon Majors in the shortest time-frame, shared her extraordinary experiences in extreme races—from the North Pole Marathon (89.33°N latitude) to the high-altitude Volcano Marathon in South America (4,700 meters above sea level). She illustrated how the power of persistence enabled her to conquer physical and mental boundaries, asserting that “the limits of human resilience will always surpass imagination.”

From Marathon to Business: The Logic of Persistence

Zhang Hua drew parallels between marathon running and entrepreneurship, noting their shared underlying logic. While extreme marathons taught her to “measure life through perseverance,” this same spirit became a driving force in her entrepreneurial journey. In 2012, when Seebon Group was still a traditional HR services firm, she spearheaded its tech-driven transformation by partnering with global leaders like IBM, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, Aon, Willis Towers Watson, Nielsen, Mercer, and McKinsey. These collaborations revolutionized Seebon’s capabilities in HR system restructuring, management consulting, and market analytics, cementing its position as an industry pioneer in digital innovation. Under her leadership, Seebon Group achieved a historic revenue of over RMB 16 billion in 2024, with cumulative tax contributions nearing RMB 5 billion. The company now ranks third in China’s HR services sector and first in Guangdong Province.

Mañana United Digital Technology: Bridging AI and Healthcare

Zhang Hua’s strategic vision also gave rise to Mañana United Digital Technology, co-founded with two internet architects and staffed by top talents in big data, AI, and healthcare. The company acquired the Chinese subsidiary of a pioneering AI firm established by a Chinese-American entrepreneur, marking its entry into China’s medical IT sector. Within four years, Tomorrow United has delivered landmark projects, including:

The “Information System Project for the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (Nansha)”, the largest single-hospital IT contract in China’s history.

The “Guangdong Province Smart Multi-Trigger Disease Prevention and Control System”, recognized by China’s National Health Commission as one of ten replicable national models for health big data applications.

Leveraging its proprietary MP-OS framework, the company has built a digital infrastructure anchored by two core technologies: a data middle platform and an AI large model middle platform. With breakthroughs in DeepSeek’s AI models, Tomorrow United is now deploying its AI platform to dismantle data silos in healthcare systems, enabling seamless data integration for hospital operations and clinical workflows. Its solutions are expanding into smart hospitals, digital governance, and smart city development.

A Call to the Future

Reflecting on her journey, Zhang Hua remarked, “We’ve crawled through challenges to arrive at humanity’s greatest AI era.” She urged the audience: “Persistence does not mean stagnation. True pioneers must not only keep pace with the times but also hold unwavering vision and conviction.”

Her speech concluded with a resounding message: In the marathon of innovation, resilience and adaptability are the ultimate keys to transcending limits.
