On January 19, as one of the 2023 “Enjoy Shopping across Fujian to Welcome in the Year of the Rabbit” shopping season activities, the global promotion campaign on the online platforms of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Expo and the Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade was kicked off at the Youth Square in the “Heart of the Min River” area of Fuzhou, marking the official launch of the online event, which is, under the guidance of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government, Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Fujian Committee, sponsored by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Fuzhou Committee, Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and the People’s Government of Taijiang District, and co-sponsored by the Publicity Department of Fuzhou Municipal CPC Committee, Fuzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Fuzhou Urban and Rural Construction Group, and Fuzhou Gucuo Group.
On the site, Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce announced the “Enjoy Shopping across Fujian to Welcome in the Year of the Rabbit” shopping season series of activities; Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced a series of cultural and tourism activities with preferential treatment for consumers; Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce announced important activities to boost consumer spending in the city during the Spring Festival and introduced and promoted the online platforms of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Expo and the Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade. What were also released or announced included the list of 100 famous, premium ready-made dishes suppliers in Fujian Province, the list of Fujian cuisine restaurants and time-honored Fujian businesses popular with netizens in 2022, the “100 Fus (Blessings) Arriving in Fujian to Welcome in the New Year” campaign organized by Fujian UnionPay, and the Online New Year’s Eve Dinner Platform which offers ready-made meals. Such a host of shopping incentives have ignited new passions for the shopping season.
With the theme “Enjoy Shopping across Fujian to Welcome in the Year of the Rabbit”, the shopping season initiative is a great way to boost business confidence and invigorate markets and an important measure taken by Fuzhou for consumption expansion and upgrading. It will effectively unleash consumption potential, boost consumer confidence, and promote the recovery and development of the trade, laying a solid foundation for getting off to a good start in the first quarter of 2023. The shopping season activities as announced at the launch ceremony cover many areas, including commerce and trade, culture and tourism, catering sectors, and the Fu series of goods (Fu stands for Fujian and also means blessing in Chinese), supporting the online and offline integrated development of commerce, which will accelerate the continued recovery of the consumer market.
Also set up at the venue is the Fu Culture Block with a strong flavor of the Spring Festival, containing a Spring Festival Street Market, with multiple sections offering five categories of Fu specialties, namely food, teas, wines, handicrafts, and health products, along with goods popular among netizens, Spring Festival goods, and so on. The section of Fu food features ready-made dishes suppliers, time-honored Fuzhou businesses, and such enterprises as Juchunyuan, An Tailou, and Rainbow Stone Cafe; the section of Fu teas features Chunlun Group, Minrong Tea, fortunetea.com.cn, and other businesses; the section of Fu wines features enterprises like Mintian; the section of Fu handicrafts features enterprises such as Shunmei Dehua Ceramics and Fujian Arts and Crafts; and the section of Fu health products features Pien Tze Huang and manufacturers of health or beauty products.
During the Spring Festival, a series of Spring Festival-themed activities will also be held in the Fu Culture Block, including various forms of celebrations, such as an art display under the theme of the Year of the Rabbit, a Fu Rabbit doll parade, Spring Festival street art performances, and a car boot sale. A wide variety of cultural and art exhibitions will be staged, including the Demo Exhibition of the Fuzhou International Urban Sculpture Design Competition, the Exhibition of Works from the 2022 Fujian Fu Cultural and Creative Design Competition, the Exhibition of Works from the Cross-Straits Cultural and Creative Design Competition, the “Memory of Fuzhou City: Old Photos and Items” Exhibition, the 2022 Exhibition of Tianxiong’s Engraving Works, the Fuke Niaozai Cultural and Art Exhibition, and the Fu Culture Museum.
During the shopping season, a series of Spring Festival activities will be simultaneously held in the “Heart of the Min River” area, the Shangxiahang Block, and the Yantai Hill Park, centering around the Fu Culture Block, so as to enhance the overall festive atmosphere in the areas and attract more visitors and boost consumer spending during the Spring Festival holiday.
According to sources, during the shopping season, the online platforms of the Fifth 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Expo and the 24th Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade will simultaneously launch promotion activities such as best-seller sec-killing and flash sale, allowing consumers to share the benefits of Maritime Silk Road cooperation and exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.
